Fire Explorers

The name of the organization is the Killen Fire and Rescue Explorer Post 699.

The objective of this post is to provide the members with basic knowledge in the field of fire suppression, fire prevention, leadership and emergency medical technology. The post also provides members the opportunity for community service.

Killen Fire and Rescue Explorer Post 699 recognizes that school and family life rank ahead of the post in importance and ensures that post activities do not distract from the more significant aspects of the members’ lives.

Killen Fire and Rescue Explorer Post 699 is a non-profit organization.

Membership

Membership in the Killen Fire and Rescue Explorer Post 699 shall be open to all young men and women of good moral character who have reached their fourteenth (14th) birthday. Members will be excused from the post upon their twenty-first (21st) birthday, unless invited to stay on as an advisor by the post committee. These restrictions follow guidelines set by the Boy Scouts of America, and the Killen Fire and Rescue Service.

The Explorer Code

All members are expected to understand and uphold the Explorer Code is as follows: I believe that America’s strength lies in our trust on God and in the courage, strength, and traditions of our people.

I will be faithful in my religious duties and will maintain a personal sense of honor in my own life.

I will treasure my American heritage and will do all I can to preserve and enrich it.

I will recognize the dignity and worth of all humanity and will use fair play and goodwill in my life.

I will acquire the Exploring attitude that seeks truth in all things and adventure on the frontiers of our changing world.

Attendance and Membership Standing

Active membership in the post is defined as any active person meeting the established criteria and guidelines of the bylaws; any person accepted as a post member as described in these bylaws; and attends at least fifty percent of all meetings, training and official functions during the calendar year.

Attendance at all post meetings, training and official functions shall be recorded.

Attendance records shall be reviewed periodically by post advisors to determine each member’s status.

Killen Fire and Rescue Explorer Post 699 requires that all members maintain at least a “C” average while completing high school. School records are to be produced periodically to post advisors to determine membership status.

Dues

At this time there are no monthly dues.

Uniforms

All members shall wear clothing that is in clean and serviceable condition.

Uniforms and equipment will be worn on special occasions as set forth by the post.
